ABCD time is great fun. Children have lots of opportunities to challenge themselves by trying different activities.
Welcome to Term Three
In Visual Art this term, we are learning to work with clay. This week we started by learning how to look after clay and use it so it doesn't get dry or too wet. We have watched some videos on how to join clay and have been experimenting by making small animals and using tools. |
Our science topic this term is "Our Bodies - Inside and out". The teachers offered various workshops on the topic and the children chose which one to attend. in Room 6 we looked at bones. Today we were given bones to scrape and look at. We pulled all the marrow from the inside the bones. We found cartilage, fat and meat.

Today Charlie's dad came in to talk to us about being a beekeeper. He has two hives and he makes honey. He showed us all his equipment and he even brought in a hive (empty of course) for us to look at. He wore his special bee keeper jacket. At the end we all had some yummy bread and honey to eat. It was delicious! Thank you Andrew for coming to talk to us. |

Today we took some photos of what is happening in room 6 during ABCD time. We are looking at things that move - mainly cars. We made cars using apple slices, toothpicks and grapes as wheels. They were good! We made cars from wafer biscuits, chocolate buttons, smarties and jelly teddies. They were really yummy! We have made a car wash, cars from cardboard tubes, pegs, roads for cars to run on and electrical circuits. |

Today we remembered the people who sacrificed everything for our freedom. Noel Duggan - war veteran and Patrick Dugan (RSA representative) and 3 current Defence Force soldiers attended the service in the hall. The children listened attentively as Noel told them about the war. After the ceremony Te Kouka Team planted poppies in the garden behind the library. On Remembrance Day the garden should be full of bright red poppies. |
