This term our team chose the topic of 'Our bodies-Inside and Out'. The teachers each chose on aspect and then explained what they were looking at. The children picked which topic they would study. Choices were: teeth, healthy food, germs and keeping clean, our senses and digestive system and bones. At the end of the topic we shared our learning with the parents. Lots of parents came along. It was great.
We also put out some school reports and asked parents to comment on them. We are collating the responses and looking at how we can make changes requested. |

Today we met to view a video on the Perceptual Motor Programme and discussed how important it is. We talked about grouping our children so they benefit from the programme. It is important to revisit past learning as it reinforces what we are doing. We always learn something new and find something to improve our teaching.

We have started our collaboration in maths. After children were tested we looked at where they were working and what gaps they have. We feel it is important to fill the gaps so they have a good mathematical foundation on which to build knowledge. We then split the children so they get specific teaching they need. Rooms 7 and 8 are working with children to increase number identification, backward and forward number sequences. Room 6 are working on backward counting and fractions. The teachers meet regularly to discuss children and progress being made.

This term rooms 6, 7 and 8 started collaboration in reading. During our planning session we looked at how we could meet the needs of the children best. We grouped children according to their reading levels and across the three rooms. The reading session begins with shared book and poems. We all read the same poem each week and have a different shared book for each teacher. The teachers meet to discuss how the children are progressing and if any children need to be moved to another group.
Next week we start our topic - Sustainability of the earth - across the team. We are staying in class groups and moving teachers. We looked at sustainability and Each class is looking at a different aspect of sustainability from bees, trees, water pollution, climate change to recycling. We are challenging the children to think about where we are now and where they will be in the future - what will the world be like if we don't look after our planet?
